The end of the year is approaching fast and your insurance benefits may be running out. Many dental insurance policies have a “use it or lose it” policy meaning that if you do not use your benefits before the plan year ends, you will not be able to roll those benefits into the following year. Most dental insurance plans run on a calendar year which means that they rest on January 1st.
Preventive Care
Most insurance plans cover cleanings and exams twice per year. It is recommended that you have a cleaning once every six months. If it has been over six months since your child’s last cleaning, we recommended that you schedule an appointment with our office as soon as possible. Our schedule will fill up fast around the holidays.
Dental Treatments
The end of the year is the perfect time to start your child’s treatment plan. If you have already met your deductible for the year you will save money by completing the treatment plan before a new year starts with a new deductible. If your child has an extensive treatment plan and they are close to reaching their annual maximum, you can even split the appointments up between this year and next year to ensure that you have enough benefits for all of the treatment.
Make sure to use any benefits that you have left before December 31st so that you can get the most out of your plan. If you have any questions related to your insurance benefits feel free to call our office at 262.241.0400 and we would be happy to help!
